{"id":350,"date":"2025-11-02T13:43:24","date_gmt":"2025-11-02T10:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asgarzade.sitedar.com\/yancotrd\/en\/?p=350"},"modified":"2025-11-02T13:43:24","modified_gmt":"2025-11-02T10:13:24","slug":"petchem-industry-accounts-for-19-of-irans-industrial-value-added","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yancotrd.com\/en\/2025\/11\/02\/petchem-industry-accounts-for-19-of-irans-industrial-value-added\/","title":{"rendered":"Petchem industry accounts for 19% of Iran\u2019s industrial value-added"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking on the need to develop downstream industries to complete the value chain, Ajami emphasized that despite accounting for just 25% of Iran\u2019s total exports, the petrochemical sector has met half of the country\u2019s foreign currency needs in recent years.<br \/>\n\u201cWithout financing and investment, developmental projects cannot be realized,\u201d he said, urging regulatory bodies to facilitate growth in petrochemical and downstream industries.<br \/>\n<strong>Petrochemicals: A driver of economic security<\/strong><br \/>\nCiting data from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Ajami noted that the petrochemical industry\u2019s high efficiency stems from its international, technology-driven nature and extensive value chain.<br \/>\n\u201cEntrepreneurship in this sector goes beyond job creation\u2014it involves fostering startups and scaling new businesses,\u201d he said. \u201cThis industry plays a vital role in ensuring Iran\u2019s economic and social security.\u201d<br \/>\nCurrently, 75 petrochemical plants operate in Iran with an annual production capacity exceeding 96 million tons. Of this, 46 million tons are produced in Asaluyeh, 25 million tons in Mahshahr, and the rest in other regions.<br \/>\nThe sector\u2019s annual export revenue has averaged $13 billion in recent years, with products divided between domestic sales and international markets.<br \/>\n<strong>Challenges: Financing, feedstock<\/strong><br \/>\nAjami highlighted two major investment hurdles: restrictions on foreign capital and feedstock shortages. Despite efforts to address these issues through talks with the Ministry of Oil, Ministry of Industry, and the Plan and Budget Organization, challenges persist.<br \/>\n\u201cTo meet production targets, the Ministry of Industry and related agencies must collaborate to resolve issues such as gas transmission bottlenecks and financing,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n<strong>AI to streamline permit issuance<\/strong><br \/>\nThe NPC is revising permit-issuance processes to reduce bureaucracy, including the use of artificial intelligence to minimize human error and enhance transparency.<br \/>\n\u201cAI is a key tool for improving efficiency in licensing,\u201d A\u2019jami said.<br \/>\n$40b investment potential<br \/>\nCurrently, 143 licensed petrochemical projects\u2014spanning methanol, olefins, aromatics and other products\u2014are underway.
